Questions & answers
Common questions about SAIL, our mission, and how to take part.
About SAIL
SAIL takes a story from the first idea all the way to real-world results · production, audience, distribution, and the actions people take afterward. We build the technology that connects those steps, so a story turns into something a person does.
Story, Action, Impact, Lift.
A story reaches someone, that person takes an action, those actions add up to impact, and the impact lifts everyone involved.
Entertainment that matters. We look for stories people genuinely want to watch, that also leave them ready to do something.
Changemakers spend billions on stories meant to move people, and most of those stories never find an audience. The few that do rarely change anything anyone can measure.
One reason sits underneath. The platforms that decide what people see reward whatever holds attention, and fear holds attention well. We think hope outlasts outrage, and we build the tools to prove it.
Most studios make the work and leave audience, distribution, and impact to somebody else. SAIL handles the whole journey with one connected set of tools.
Storytellers who want their work to reach people. Organizations and funders who want a story to move their cause forward. And audiences · we call them Voyagers · who want more from a story than ninety minutes.
Someone who watches a SAIL story and then does something about it. Voyagers take actions, back up each other's actions, and some go on to create work of their own.
We plan the measurement at the same time we plan the story. Every SAIL story carries a goal from the start, and the tools follow what people actually do afterward. Every number shows its source, and when we do not know something, we say so.
Yes. Education forms one of our three pillars, alongside Stories and Tools. storIAccelerator teaches storytellers how to develop a project and how to use AI in creative work. You can take it whether or not you ever bring a project to SAIL. (Details to be confirmed.)
Apples and Oranges Arts brings the Broadway and film production experience. Forward Global brings a global membership already working on causes, and partners with SAIL under a Model C fiscal sponsorship. SAIL brings the technology that ties a story to a result.
Tim Kashani and Pamela Winslow Kashani lead SAIL, with thirty-five years across the arts and technology. (Details to be confirmed.)
AI, data, and control
AI helps develop stories, plan campaigns, find audiences, and read results. People make every decision that matters, and the tools always show their work.
Your data moves only with your approval, and you can change your settings anytime. Our recommendation engine, the Compass, always shows why it suggests something · we call that a glass box.
No. Each tool works on its own. They work better together, and you decide how much you use.
Yes. You can turn it off completely, or leave it on and correct it whenever it gets something wrong. Everything else keeps working either way.
Where things stand
We build in the open, so this changes often. Today you can see the whole system working, with much of it running on sample data while we connect the live pieces · every screen tells you which. Real projects with a first group of creators come next.
Every SAIL page carries a feedback link, and hello@sail.show reaches a real person. Tell us what confused you as well as what broke.
