SAIL operates as a storytelling studio for social impact, fiscally sponsored by The Philanthropy Workshop Inc DBA Forward Global (“Forward Global”). This policy describes how SAIL, together with Forward Global as our fiscal sponsor, handles personal information you share through this website. We firmly respect the privacy rights of all individuals and take affirmative measures regarding the storing, sharing, and safeguarding of personally identifiable information. We collect any information only for the explicit purpose of furthering our mission and upholding legal protections. We support the privacy initiative of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which means SAIL and Forward Global will not store or use any information about you without consent. You can request (at no cost to you) that we remove your data from our systems at your will.

The type of personal information we collect

Forward Global, as our fiscal sponsor, serves as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We collect only basic personal data about you, excluding any special types of information or location-based information. We ask for your name, email, and phone number to contact you if you express interest in SAIL’s work, subscribe to updates, or choose to actively partner with us on mission-related activities.

How we get personal information

You provide the personal information we process directly to us to further our mission, comply with legal protections, and conduct related financial transactions. We may also receive personal information indirectly from publicly available sources like LinkedIn, to confirm biographical details such as geographic location or personal interest areas. We will not collect any personal data from you we do not need to provide mission-related services to you.

What we do with your personal information

We use the information you provide to curate content to your interests, provide relevant and timely information, and build relationships amongst our supporters and partners.

We use electronic communication to send newsletters that update you on our activities, changes to our organization, and share the progress of our community. You will always have the option to opt out of these emails using the unsubscribe links at the bottom of each newsletter. If you do not wish to receive emails from SAIL, please use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter.

We keep basic personal data (name, address, contact details) and any information you give us for outreach or promotional purposes until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive and store this information. We permanently delete any personally identifiable information when it no longer serves a clear purpose.

We use analytics and email tools, such as GetResponse, to evaluate traffic to our website and manage our mailing list. We have configured these tools to minimize the data that they collect.

We may use your IP address to provide you with the best possible experience when accessing our website such as local language support. We use your IP address to help identify you for the duration of a session.

Cookies store pieces of information in your web browser that make it easier to interact with our site. JavaScript functions as a programming language that allows for a more dynamic browsing experience. We use JavaScript on our website. You may disallow cookies and/or JavaScript in your web browser, although it may have impacts on the site’s appearance and functionality. We never use cookies to retrieve information from a computer that is unrelated to our website.

Because we collect your data, we take extra care with our security and commit to securely storing your personal information. Our team and Forward Global, as our fiscal sponsor, review and store securely all personal data we process. We use a secure password manager to store information so our team can access relevant login information regardless of their location. We require all our cloud-based information systems to use secure HTTPS protocols and actively maintain the security on all electronic systems. Our website responds to Do Not Track signals from web browsers.

Neither SAIL nor Forward Global shares, rents, sells, or leases your personal information to any unaffiliated person or entity for any reason and without your fully expressed consent. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
